Why Bother to Analyse Shares?
It is perfectly valid to question why private investors should ever be bothered to go to the considerable effort of analysing and evaluating specific companies when there are vast numbers of managed trusts and investment companies that will do the job for you. Well, one reason is cost. Managers make charges for doing the job on your behalf. More relevant are the additional capital gains that may be achieved by investors who do their own homework. What is STAR?
STAR is a rigorously tested method of analysing and screening fundamental data on hundreds of shares listed on major global stock exchanges. The objective is to create portfolios that deliver significant investment outperformance. STAR has, indeed, done exactly this. It has been continuously produced as a monthly newsletter by John Mulligan, its founder and Editor, since the early 1990s and has an enviable long-term record of producing profitable share portfolios.
